    ADVANCED COMMUNICATION SKILLS
    (One-day; up to thirty participants)

    In this workshop, students will review the basics and then learn about more complex communication styles and techniques. Students will learn how to communicate with peers, supervisors, subordinates, and customers/vendors. Course activities also cover promoting ideas, handling negotiations, and dealing with human resource issues. Students will identify an organization’s culture, discuss how communication can perpetuate a culture, define a cultural network, and explore ways to take advantage of a cultural network.

    ACHIEVING RESULTS WITHOUT AUTHORITY

    Do you have lots of responsibility but little real authority? What an individual is able to accomplish at work is directly related to his/her ability to build strong relationships, win cooperation, and exert influence on others up and down the organization. Succeeding in this demanding environment requires skills an individual does not learn in school. This workshop will provide individuals with the critical communication tools needed to develop collaborative relationships and build influence.

    ASSERTIVENESS SKILLS

    Learn to speak honestly and directly, make decisions easily and influence people. Create a turning point in your life by learning to recognize the difference between assertive and aggressive behaviors, communicate more effectively and listen for others' motivations. As you learn to spot the barriers to effective communication, you effectively handle criticism, deal with workplace anxieties and build self-confidence.

    BASIC & ADVANCED TELEPHONE SKILLS
    (One-half day; up to twenty-five participants)

    This workshop will teach successful techniques geared to improving phone skills and act as a refresher for the essential phone skills that employees sometimes forget. DVDs from the Telephone Doctor and interactive exercises will help the participants actively apply these skills back at their desks. This course is designed and recommended for all employees who interact with internal and external customers over the telephone.

    BRIDGING THE GENERATION GAP IN THE WORKPLACE

    There are unique and distinct differences associated with each of the generations in our current workforce: Traditionalists, Baby Boomers, Generation X, Generation Z, and Millennials. Understanding the generational differences can improve leadership effectiveness and decrease organizational conflict. Older supervisors are often supervising next generation employees and vice versa. This course discusses why the differences exist and suggests communication and behavioral strategies to more effectively connect and work with multi-generations.

    This highly interactive half-day workshop will provide instruction about planning, participating in, and concluding successful meetings.     This workshop helps employees work as a team to overcome such problems as conflict, competition, and resistance to change.     Engineers, scientists and others are often required to write reports, summaries, manuals, guides, and other work related documents.  While these individuals certainly have had some sort of English or writing instruction, it is less likely that they have had any instruction in the special requirements of technical writing.
